The madness continues

The English premier league will never cease to have it wonders. This time it was the champions league having a cameo in the mysterious epl realm. Manchester united was knocked down into the Europa league while Arsenal getting a surprising win over Olympiakos after Giroud scored his first Arsenal champions league hat-trick. Arsenal have made a habit of repeatedly qualifying for the champions league as they have done it 18 times in a row. Unfortunately they have never won it. They are like a student who has taken an exam eighteen times but has never passed. They always come short of it.  But may this be their year?

Manchester city and Chelsea have gone on to qualify for the round of 16 with Arsenal but Manchester city seem to have the easiest route as they have seemingly the least challenging or at least the least popularly challenging opponents out of the English trio.  Man city face Dynamo Kiev who luckily went past Porto in their group, Chelsea face PSG who are so far unbeaten in their league and Arsenal face the almighty Barcelona who won the treble last season and are looking dangerous even with recurring injuries on Neymar and having lost Messi for some time.

Watford, Leicester and Bournemouth don't seem to be wanting to calm down and go where everyone expects them to. They don't care what other people think and are just winning matches like its nobody's business. Same goes to crystal palace and west ham they just refuse to drop points. Unfortunately they have left a void which must be filled and unfortunately Norwich,Sunderland, Swansea and Aston Villa have stepped forward as worthy replacements. But to tell you the truth as a Chelsea fan I would rather Leicester win the league rather than Arsenal. At least we wear the same shade of blue.
Now to some more urgent matters. The Vardy and Mahrez show continued in the king power stadium and the guests were the unfortunate Chelsea fc. The players looked like they were being forced to play and that was clearly shown in the match when Hazard substituted himself off the pitch and Diego Costa made sleeping gestures to his fellow teammates after they conceded a goal. They were not in the game and although Remy( who I beleive should be CFC'S no.1 striker) got one goal back . It was not enough.
Jose Mourinho stated thet he felt like he was betrayed by the players and that ended up to be his famous last words as he was later dismissed by the oh so reliable Roman Abramovich. This I believe to be a big mistake in which he will come to regret when it is too late. I strongly hope for Chesea's sake that I am wrong. But maybe that is what Chelsea needed a breath of fresh air to bring a new opinion.
I hope the new manager will put Remy upfront, play Kenedy, Oscar and Willian. Ramires and Loftus behind them and maybe leave the defense as it is. I would give Djilobodji and Traore their chances at the back and see what happens. Also maybe start Pedro on the left back more often and play Hazard as the number 10 on his jersey because he's definitely not wearing it for fashions sake. I hope what he doesn't do is buy and sell like he is at a medieval grocery that would just make everything worse.
I am sad to see Jose go and I wish him the best in his future as long as he does not come to manage any epl team.

Unfathomable Chelsea. (EPL Week 8-12 Review)

If someone at the beginning of the season were to tell me that twelve matches into the the English premier league that the former champions Chelsea would be placed 16th in the table, Arsenal and Manchester City would be on top of the table tied on points, Leicester would be third and West Ham sixth I would have laughed so hard I would have fainted, woke up and taken that person who told me such madness to the mental hospital and have him/her admitted there for life.

To be honest the Man-city Arsenal part isn't so unbelievable and neither is the Leicester and West Ham part as they did show a little bit of form last season before going back to their position. Leicester finished the season with a bang running away from relegation and they also have a young man named Jamie Vardy who cant seem to stop scoring. West Ham begun with a mild bang beating Man-City and Liverpool early in the season and also managed to finish twelfth. The only bang Chelsea is getting is banging their head on the dress-room wall trying to figure out what is wrong with the team.
Chelsea's run is so bad even the haters are tired of hating and have now turned into sympathizers. There are a lot of reasons that people have put out there to try and understand Chelsea's form and here they are below together with my thoughts on them:
(If I say we in this blog I mean Chelsea fans)
1. Hazard is not so hazardous any more.
The man who was everyone's player of the season has become everyone's scapegoat of the season. He is said to have dragged Chelsea to the championship with his glistering form with 14 goals 9 assists and being an amazing play maker on the pitch.
In some sense it is true that without him Chelsea would not probably have finished champions but he did not do it on his own as is said the people around him were also in glistering form its just that Hazard was shining so bright that we could not see them.
Willian is said to be in amazing form but he is just the same way he was last season except his free kicks which are just out of this world. According to me Willian and Oscar's form are the reason Cuadrado (Who is in amazing form at Juventus by the way)did not get enough playing time because (according to me) he was brought in January as back up in case anything went wrong and nothing did.
John Terry, Gary Cahill and  Ivanovic had 10 goals in total, TEN from defenders. If that is not form I do not know what is. They also were solid as a rock in the back as they let in the least amount of goals in the premier league. (33)
Fabregas had 18 amazing assists and 3 goals. Some of those assists were given to Hazard so he also has to share the credit.
Diego Costa had 20 goals. ... I could go on forever showing the form that everyone else except Hazard had. Everyone wanted to score and everyone actually did except  Courtois, Cech ( who can't really be blamed as they are keepers) Azpillicuetta, Loftus, Traore and others who cannot really be blamed as they did not have as much opportunities.
The bottom line is that people should not blame the poor performances on specific individual players but you can however blame it on all the players dipping in form.

2. Firing Dr Eva Carneiro.

For those who do not know. Dr Eva Carneiro was Chelsea's team doctor from 2009 but at a match vs Swansea she went out to give Hazard treatment and that left us with ten men on the pitch as Courtois was sent off earlier in the game. This infuriated Jose Mourinho who ended up firing her for it.
Personally I believe the dismissal was a huge mistake as she was just doing her job. What I don't believe however is that her absence is the cause of Chelsea's performance. She was loved by all Chelsea fans and players but I do not believe that lack of her presence took that much of a toll.

3. The keeper.
When Cech left we almost cried but when we heard he was going to Arsenal we actually did cry. Petr Cech was like a father to Chelsea. He speaks Czech, English, French, German, Slovak, Spanish, and Italian. He can also speak basic Russian, Croatian, Serbian and Bosnian. That means he related well with most if not all the players. This means that he was someone to turn to for the young inexperienced players in the team although they are not very many but he was still able to advise the experienced players as well. I do believe that he is part of our dip in form but not a very major one.
Although in my books he is the greatest keeper in the league I do believe Courtois is a close second. His injury was a major blow to Chelsea but the blows' impact was reduced by the fact that we had Begovic. Begovic to me has done amazingly well. He has made one or two mistakes but its not that Courtois and Cech never did. To me we are fine in terms of keepers and we did not even need Marco Amelia as we have had Blackman for too long without using him. This brings me to my next point.

4.The defenders.
This is one of the more valid and believable reasons for Chelsea's slump in form. In my opinion Kurt Zouma and Azpillicuetta have been putting in a fair effort in terms of defense. But the rest of the lot which consists of Ivanovic, Cahill and Terry really need to step up their game. I will not talk about Baba because I do not think I have seen enough of him to start judging. They have their positioning all wrong and they lack confidence. There is no justification of a defense that was the best in the season that accrued a total of 10 goals to be running around like half blind ninety year old men.(no offense to the old or the half blind) But what I am trying to say is that their playing is just unacceptable and they are 85 % of the reason Chelsea is where it is. This brings out the question why Chelsea bought Papy Djilobodji and always has Traore on the bench if they are not going to use them.

5. The strikers.

A lot of criticism has been directed to Diego Costa who seems to be more interested in beating up people in the pitch than scoring goals. At first I was on his side but the critics are looking more and more correct as more and more matches are passing without him finding the net. He does seem to be trying, but according to me he is trying less harder than he did last season. When he gets in the box he seems more focused on winning penalties than putting the ball in the back of the net. Remy to me should be our number one striker until Diego finds his form again and Falcao...(I do not know what to say about Falcao.)

6. The special one.

Jose Mourinho. In my opinion the best manager in the world and an interesting character. This season has really shown that greatness does fade and that which goes up must come down. He himself has said that he predicted this slump eleven years ago. But nobody in the football world would have predicted his slump to be this low. The defining moment that convinced me that there was something severely wrong with him was when he double substituted Matic during the 3-1 loss to Southampton. A substitution is not something to second guess. It is a major chance to change the game around. Substituting someone in the game and then later taking the same person out is a major statement of how confused and how disorganized you are. Jose just needs to calm down and maybe talk to a psychiatrist to help him with this tough period of his managerial career.

I am sure there are lots of other reasons that are out there but they did not hold enough water for me to focus upon them. If you disagree with me or agree or just want to add something. Feel free to do so in the comment section.
Other than Chelsea's woes, it would also be good to note that arsenal have had a good run in the season and Aston villa did well to hold back Manchester City. Newcastle are also starting to climb out of relegation and Liverpool and Tottenham are starting to wake up as well.
The season so far is looking as interesting as ever and I am sure none e of us can wait to see what drama it will pop out next.

So far so wild. (EPL week 1-8 review.)

The English premier league is proving itself as the most entertaining football league in the world with its never ending drama and surprises. Too bad some teams have had the short end of the stick while contributing to this excitement.
The most notable of these unfortunate teams are last seasons champions Chelsea.

Chelsea convincingly finished first last season after putting on brilliant performances one after the other. If they continue playing as they currently are then they will probably be the first in the league again but from the other end of the table. The team seems like they are being forced to play. They have no morale and drive. Begovic, Willian,  Azpillicueta, Ramires, Zouma Pedro and Cahill are the only regular players that seem to be making an effort. Kennedy and Loftus Cheek are also doing well but don't get that much playing time. Ivanovic is just as useful as the corner flag when it comes to defending and that is why Chelsea fans celebrated as if Chelsea has won the champions league on hearing that he was injured on international duty. Unfortunately Matic was also injured in the same match .Mourinho does not seem to have a clue of what he is doing, the substitution in which he put in Matic and later took him out in the same much just summed up his confusion and panic. Chelsea are in desperate need of prayer as it seems that is the only thing that will help.

Sunderland and Newcastle who haven't managed a win this season yet. Sunderland have already appointed a new manager Sam Allardyce who is not a stranger to the Epl having managed west ham previously.

Tim Krul Newcastle keeper after lettin 6 goals go past him.

Sam Allardyce Sunderland's new manager.

On the other hand some teams have really stepped up this season and are showing little chance of backing down these teams are namely Leicester, West Ham and Crystal Palace.

Leicester are showing that they are can be a high quality team even though they just came into the premier league last season. Jamie Vardy has shown his credentials and class by already pitting in 7 goals in 8 games and doesn't seem like cooling down. The comeback kings may just surprise us this season.
Jamie Vardy Epl's current top scorer.

West Ham are also showing their quality although the same happened last season as they were on the top part of the table for quite some time but they faded away into their more usual position.
Crystal palace have always been a very strong team but have never really had that extra spark to challenge for the title but there is a first time for everything.
Payet from West Ham

Speaking about teams that have never had that extra something Arsenal recently pulled a surprise win over Manchester United and as usual their fans are riled up talking about the hope for winning the season. I personally think if they play the way they did in the first 20 minutes then they can finish second or a strong third if they don't pick up injuries.
Alexis Sanchez currently in form for Arsenal.

Liverpool have had a decent season according to me but it seems that the owners of the club want better than descent. That is the reason they have sacked Brendan Rodgers and upgraded to the former Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp who seems to have an exciting aspect to add on the Epl.
Brendan Rodgers Liverpool's former manager.

Jorgan Klopp Brendans replacement.

Manchester city is looking like the team we saw in 2014 although it does have something to do with the enormous quality that they bought in the club. Namely one particular signing Kevin De Bruyne has shown that he is a worthy signing by already starting to stack up assists and goals. Kun Aguero seems to have woken up from his goal slumber as he recently put 5 past Krul as Man city added to the tears of Newcastle although he has been injured and is set to miss playing for one month. Silva is also sidelined by injury but if they play their cards right I do not see this running away from them.

Manchester City's Kun Aguero and Kevin De Bruyne.
Manchester united look strong it just depends if Van Gall can find the formula that the team he has form needs. It seemed that in the game against arsenal Van made a grievous error by playing Rooney on the side of Martial instead of the other way around. He also employed a method of playing pressing football other that playing the normal counter attacking football that Manchester United are accustomed to and it cost them dearly.

All these reviews may change in my next review but until then we will just have to sit down and enjoy as the adventure that is the English Premier League unfolds.

Rocket League review.

What do you get when you combine explosions, rich colour graphics, football/soccer and rocket powered cars? The answer is Rocket League. Psyonix’s Rocket League, the follow up to Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars was officially released on July 7 th 2015 on the PS4. Rocket League trailer.
It is basically football but with cars and with some rule exceptions. You as the player control a car and try to hit a giant ball into the opponent's goal and at the same time preventing your opponent from doing the same. You can have up to 4 opponents while online and 3 on co-op. It is a physics based game so one does not to have any prior knowledge or skill concerning soccer games or racing games. The controls are relatively easy as they consist of only directions, boost and jump. Although the game sounds simple it requires a great amount of timing and patience to carry out the correct actions, which when not taken seriously can lead to some very costly and memorable misses and dreadful on-goals.
The game also livens itself up by offering a various array of car models and customisation options such as flags, tyres and decals.
Customisations.

The car models although lack individuality as they all seem to have the same attributes in terms of performance but that will be the least of your worries as you will be engrossed in the innocent and addictive fun of playing in the different modes available.
Like a lot of games today the best experience is in the online multiplayer where you can go up to 4v4 gameplay or in the season mode where you play a series of matches with computerised opponents and try to come out on top.
Home menu screen.

Other than the lack of individuality of the cars the game also receives a thumbs down in terms of progression. There is no real sense of progress as you just unlock customisation options which only help in visual diversity . The game modes are only four consisting of online play, exhibition, season and training if more gaming modes were available then it may increase the playability of the game as matches do become monotonous after a while especially if one is not playing online.

All in all its a simple fun experience for anyone looking to burn some free time.
 Thanks for reading.
Deo omnis gloria.

And so it begins..

After a long wait it is back the most popular football\soccer league in the world the Barclays Premier League\English premier league (epl-as it is popularly known). People can finally get out of their states of depression due to boredom and having nothing to do and discuss since 24th may 2015. Sure there was the Copa America, International Champions Cup(which was very interesting by the way) ,Audi cup, Asia cup and other football competitions to keep us as well as the players busy but it just was not the same as the exciting, amazing, delightful, nerve wrecking and sometimes dreadful (depending on which team you support) league that is the EPL. There is that void in every epl fan that can be filled with nothing else but the epl itself. Now there will be a more reasons to look forward to the weekend, more friends and enemies to be made more loud, inconclusive and unproductive arguments to be had and more amazing moments to be shared all around the world. And according to me I think this is going to be the most exciting instalment of the competition yet going by the standards of quality being shipped in in terms of players.
Apparently most all teams competing this season were given the following:
Equal tv rights share to every clubs will be around £54.1 million (£27.57 million from oversees portion and £21.96 million for domestic + £4.39 with central commersial share) – Confirmed
Merit money starts with £1,236,083 for the 20th place and £1,236,083 will be added to each position rising up the table. (which means champions will pocket £24.7 million in merit based money) – Confirmed
Facility fee depend on how many times clubs match is shown live on tv in UK, If a club has 10 or less live matches they will be paid £8.75 million while Manchester United matches were shown live the most number of times in UK with total 27 times which means they will get £875,000 for every live match and that’s £21.47m million. (Confirmed)

In addition with the money they already earned by themselves the 20 clubs can now be able to have the confidence to spend more money as they already have a promised pay during the season. Due to this the clubs went all out to reel in as much talent as financially possible and some still are but a I am typing this blog on 7th of August 2015 the current transfers as confirmed by the official premier league website ( http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/news/news/2015-16/summer-transfer-window-2015.html ) are as follows.

And with the transfer window closing on September 1st I expect a little more transfers. The transfers above do not include players who have come back from loan for example Origi who is back from Lille  and Victor Moses who is back to Chelsea  from Stoke and looking as strong as ever according to the pre-season.

Speaking of pre-season Arsenal had a very successful one. They won the Asia cup,Emirates Cup and beat Chelsea to win The Community Shield. This has resulted in Arsenal fans excitingly running around like headless chickens. You would have thought that they had won the Epl,Champions League and FA all at once while quite actually they won a four team tournament(Asia cup),A two day tournament(Emirates cup) and a one match tournament so in real sense they have won just 5 matches. But all credit to them I know no match is an easy match but they have to stop making a mountain out of a mole hill and also I personally give Petr Cech the credit for the 4 clean sheets he kept for them during those five matches and only letting one goal get through. All Arsenal players should be like Mathieu Flamini and thank Jose Mourinho for selling them the world class keeper.
Liverpool also had a good pre season and although having to sell Raheem Sterling to Man City

they were able to buy some very significant players of whom four by the names Divock Origi, Danny Ings , James Milner and Christian Benteke have already reached Mario Balloteli's scoring taly of last season and are proving to be promising signings.

Christian Benteke

While on the topic of promising signings Chelsea who have been more quiet than usual signing four players so far and sending two on loan signed Radamel Falcao

Radamel Falcao.
who had a rather dissapointing 2014/2015 season at Manchester United and Asmir Begovic who is not exactly a replacement for Cech but is a good enough substitute. Although Falcao had a shack start at the EPL I believe that if there is anyone who can fix him  it is Jose Mourinho and if he can be fixed then he will most likely be out of the club and more presumably the league by February. I cant finish speaking about signings without talking about Manchester United.
The Man-U fans are overjoyed and ecstatic that they have been able to sign amazing players and are even confident that they can  win the league because of them. I do wish to remind the man-u fans that their manager Louis Van Gaal has a certain talent in bringing out the worst in players. It was only last season that Man-u had the same excitement and expectations when they brought in Falcao and Di Maria and even later on brought in the keeper Victor Valdez from Barcelona who only played once as a sub and conceded a goal before being let go by the club.

Where these players were at the beginning of last season.
Falcao now at Chelsea.

Di Maria now at PSG.

None of the players above lived up to their expectations and none of them even lasted to start this season. But before I make this long blog longer than it already is let me end by saying in real sense the past does not matter ,only the present. When that team gets on the field they will not start thinking of the previous match both teams will want to get maximum points there and then it wont be about what happened last time but what is happening now and thats why the EPL is so popular there are no small or big teams in only winners and losers this has been shown time and again by the so called giants fall to the underdogs. The EPL has always been unpredictable and amazing and I expect it to be no less this season.
